Jean Claude Baker

"Rediscovering Joesphine Baker: The Original Diva"

Jean Claude Baker will be with us to share the story of his adopted mother and the tales from his book "THE HUNGRY HEART" (which The New York Times loved and which he will sell and autograph). Josephine Baker was larger than life.  An American woman of color, she was the toast of Paris in the '20s, star of stage and screen in the '30s,  undercover agent for the French during WW II, and civil rights activist in the '50s and '60s.  Jean Claude will also talk about Chez Josephine, his theatre district restaurant in NYC, fashioned after HER club in Paris. Josephine's music will be provided by pianist Eric Garcia.  A real treat, French accent and all!
