Many of the activities and fund-raisers described elsewhere on this website are designed to further a major goal of College Club of Ridgewood: assistance to young women in achieving a college education. Proceeds of these events, along with tax-deductible donations form College Club members and friends in the wider community, finance College Club’s Education Fund.
Each year, the Education Fund of the College Club of Ridgewood awards grants-in-aid to young women high school graduates about to enter four-year colleges or universities. College freshmen, sophomores and juniors are also eligible for grants-in-aid to help defray expenses of the next college year. Recipients are graduates of College Club membership area high schools and high schools in Paterson.
Grants are awarded on the basis of comparative financial need among each year’s applicant group. Application must be made each year for renewal of the grant. For the 2007-2008 academic year, the Education Fund awarded $70,000 to 103 students. Overall, throughout its existence, College Club has awarded 2917 grants-in-aid totally approximately $1.62 million.

A tax-exempt fund, administered under the provision of the Memorial Scholarship Loan Fund Trust Indenture, issues interest-free loans to men and women who are fully matriculated students at the sophomore, junior, senior or graduate level. Loans are repaid in 16 quarterly installments, beginning thirteen months after graduation.
Five hundred seventy-nine loans totaling $999,600, have been made to 433 students since the inception of the Fund in 1947, including $82,000 in loans for the academic year 2007 to 2008.
A gift of any amount in memory of or in honor of any person may be made to the Loan Fund by members and non-members of the Club. When loans are repaid, the money again becomes available for use, thus becoming a perpetual memorial. Checks should be made payable to the Memorial Scholarship Loan Fund.
College Club makes a contribution in memory of any member who passes away during the year.
Please request applications for loans from Janet Anderson, 289 S. Irving St., Ridgewood, NJ 07450.
